Have I got a story for you fantasy novel lovers out there....I present to you A PROMISE OF FIRE. Ok, so to start of I must add I have a big fascination for greek mythology, and this novel includes a ton of it and was an added bonus when I decided to purchase it. But the story on its own is so exciting it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! I could not put it down and have read this book at least three times now and each time, I still feel the same excitement I did when I read it first.

Our main character is Cat. She has been traveling with a circus for some time now, for she has been in hiding of her homicidal mother who has been hunting for her. Cat is at peace with her circus family which has proven to be a great hiding place from the dangers that have surrounded her life always. Until, one day, a warlord from the south region comes to the circus, locks eyes with her, and her illusion of safety is gone forever.

"Our gazes collided, and something in me freezes. His eyes remind me of Poseidon's wrath - stormy, grey, intense - the kind of eyes that draw you in. hold you there, and might never let you go."

Griffin has been searching for Cat for a while now, for he knows she is the Kingmaker, the one who can tell who lies for she can always see the truth. At start, he wanted to use Cat as a weapon but soon after, he starts to want so much more than just that. But Cat is not easily persuaded. She fights Griffin at every turn, resisting him as much as she can, but how long can she be able to resist him when he has showed her the kindness and affection no one had ever done?

" - I won't let anything happen to you. - He sounds so sure, I resist the temptation to lean into him, to find shelter in his arms, my internal battle complicated by the knowledge that he wouldn't push me away."

So, like I stated in the beginning this book was so incredibly breathtaking I could not read it fast enough to know what happened next. This is the first installment of the Kingmaker Chronicles, and so far it has me hooked.

The characters where a dream and more. Cat was strong, fierce and brave. A fantastic heroine who made me laugh more than a few times with her feisty and sassy personality. Griffin was so swoon worthy, there where time I wanted to jump into the story, and yell at Cat how unfair she was being towards him. The character is everything you could be looking for in a male story hero, he's fair, loyal, trustworthy and to add he is super H O T. Speaking of hot, the romance scenes where so steamy and sexy you just could not help but fall in love with these two.

The suspense level is really high and the book ends on a cliffhanger that ignites your appetite once again to go look for book two and start devouring it as soon as possible, which in my case is exactly what has happened. You will not get enough of these two for the story keeps you on your toes the entire time.

This epic story has got it all: sexy romance, great characters, intrigue, action and magic. What's not to love?
