Historical romance lovers, have I got a book for you! This has got to be one of the most wonderful historical romances I have read in a while and I could not pass the opportunity to share it with you all.

Our main character's name is Mariah. At twenty-seven she has become what she most feared she would be - a spinster. She was to be married with a man who had betrayed her and died a couple of years back, and ever since then, she has yet to receive any marriage proposals thanks to her ex-fiancé's nasty rumors he spread about her. Compared to her younger obnoxious sister, men rarely noticed her and she felt invisible in the eyes of men.

One day, her life changes. Her father announces her he has found a husband for her in his friend and colleague, Lord Peter. At first, a little reluctant, she wanted to say no, but knowing no better offer, if even there was another offer, could probably never happen to her again. So, she accepts and decides to meet him. With this she also knew she would gain a certain freedom only married women got and would finally be treated as an adult and not as some naive child in the eyes of the world.

Mariah's eyes had gone wide with surprise, and her blush deepened, but it was clear as day he was not what she was expecting.

Lord Peter deVere, Earl of Dunsford, has not had an easy life. Married once a couple of years ago, he was a little hesitant to marry again, however, other circumstances requires him to have an heir or his state would fall in the hands of his despicable nephew. But the minute he meets Mariah, sparks fly that none of them expected too. He sees in her everything he could have wanted and more. But dangers are always threatening this found romance, can their love be strong enough to survive it all and prove that true love  is ageless?

He would keep her safe. He wouldn't fail her as he did Anne, as he'd failed himself. If he had to bring down the stars to do it, he would shelter Mariah from the world's cruelty.

REVIEW

★★★★★

So, this is not the first novel I have read from this author, but it has been my favorite one so far and now holds a very special place in my heart. Funny to say, this was not a book I was too keen on reading at start. Perhaps I was a little set back with the age difference of the characters, however, when I finally met them I completely fell in love. This is easily one of my favorite historical romances I have read. There is nothing better than finding a book which you can come back to time and time again, and this is one of those stories I have read a few times and would love to read over and over again.

The character are so adoringly perfect for each other despite the age gap. They truly come to show that age is but a number when it comes to matters of the heart. Peter was just so perfect I completely forgot his age just like Mariah did and understood why she fell in love with him for I even felt envy as how lucky Mariah was to find a man like him. Mariah was just so relatable, at least for me. I connected with her character so much and enjoyed taking the journey with her. The antagonist was spot on what this story needed as well. Vile, cruel and calculating, he added the right amount of suspense this type of novel required to make the story even more page turning.

This first book of The Silver Foxes of Westminster, was the perfect start! I can't wait to see what happens next for the rest of the characters in the books to come.

You can find this book on iBooks, Kindle APP or KOBO. Happy reading!
